Update: Local projects will be coming back in Insomnia 8.3. More info

Insomnia is a tool designed to test API. Many people moved to Insomnia because Postman changes were not satisfying, mostly moving the offline tool into a cloud based solution in some aspects.

Now, with the Insomnia 8 release some testers and developers are furious about how Insomnia creators handled their latest move.

Since Insomnia API client is open source, we can read what people have to say about the release and response from the creators.

I take the discussion with a bit of salt because I feel some comments have some additional motivation.

But there are some things we can assume happened.

Insomnia was an offline tool. And the creators wanted to move to the cloud, so they will be able to offer more collaboration tools, integrations etc.

It sounds like just a good move to satisfy users.

But the execution is what turned a nice sleep into a nightmare.
