Local-only projects coming back to Insomnia 8.3

Local projects are coming back to Insomnia!
As promised there is a new update on the local-only projects in Insomnia 8. Marco Palladino, the CTO of Kong, wrote a very important announcement just 3 hours ago. He confirms good intentions in the cloud based solution with special focus on E2EE encryption, that was planned to solve the problem of IP protection on the cloud.

I like the announcement, because local projects will come back to Insomnia. When creating and managing projects you’ll be able to choose if you want a local project or cloud E2EE one.
So here’s one thing. E2EE is something we all should strive for in the cloud. And Insomnia is a forerunner in this technology. It protects data from being read by the cloud provider, and a service provider. We can only read these data.

What I also like is that Marco recognizes the reports made by users and the team will really go far and beyond to make the possibility to have both types of projects.
I think it’s good not only for people who don’t pay for the work they use (free Insomnia users), but also for Insomnia itself. Being able to start with local projects, and then move to cloud can improve the number of users who actually will move to cloud, and use paid services eventually.

So kudos for that. I’m really impressed how the situation is handled and hopefully will turn out to be great for everyone despite some problems that occurred down the road.
If you want to move to local projects, just wait to mid-October, and after update to 8.3, switch the project to local. Cloud E2EE repository will be removed, and moved to your local storage. As always, remember to back up your projects.
