Finally, we can disable a feature from the 90s that makes VSCode fonts jittery on OLED and UHD monitors!

The New Flag

Usually improvements in VSCode, popular code editor revolve around productivity, developer experience and developer tools like integrations with Copilot.

But it’s not always a case, and sometimes changes are quite surprising.

You read this article thanks to Medium.

In a long list of improvements in the May 2024 edition we can find the possibility to choose multiple tabs at the same time, profiles, possibility to display editor window action icons all the time, or text-to-speech for Copilot answers.

But the most interesting for me is an improvement available under enigmatic title “Set disable-lcd-text as a runtime argument”.

In a short description we can learn that:

The disable-lcd-text setting is now supported as a runtime argument in the argv.json file. Previously, it was only available as an undocumented CLI flag. Use the Preferences: Configure Runtime Arguments command to configure the runtime arguments.
