Terminal apps can be written in all sorts of languages. Spring Terminal is a solid solution for Java developers

Lately I was writing about Google investing 6 million USD in Go based command line tools and libraries.

Itā€™s however not the only company thatā€™s looking at the terminal like a hamster on a carrot.

Microsoft, maybe not directly, but also is orientingĀ .NET and C# to serve the purpose of something that may be the new trend.

The company is working effortlessly on cross platform standalone apps that will run on everything including the Casio F91W. It would make C# a perfect lamguage for terminal apps.

But thatā€™s not all. Java is not in itā€™s PJs.

VMWare Tanzu just announced a new release of Spring Shell 3.2.0-M3.

Spring Shell is a Java solution to build command line apps. It comes with a very well documented specification, and offers a solid experience.

Itā€™s developed for years, the 2.0 M2 version was released in 2017.

So if you love the terminal craze, and like Java, Spring Shell is a great option to get going.
