Imagine your car has always the perfect temperature when you enter it

The electrification of cars that happens means that every car in a matter of years will have a battery and system capable of doing all sorts of stuff. Even the obsolete gasoline and diesel cars are now equipped with real mini computers.

It’s a possibility that wasn’t unnoticed by automation enthusiasts tapping into everything that has a socket.

If you’d think car systems are locked out, you’d be wrong. In fact, car manufactures, to some degree, and with some level of enthusiasm welcome 3rd party integrations.

They have allies and law besides them. Electronic Frontier Foundation puts a lot of care to educate that interoperability, for example, doesn’t necessarily means reverse engineering is an infrigement. At least if it’s done with a lot of care to not trigger automotive tycoon lawyers.

It means that as long as we think about connecting one system with another, we have some level of elasticity to make it happen beyond what we consider common sense legal. In fact…
