🧭 Safari 16.5 Is Not Only About CSS Nesting

The new release of Safari browser comes with a promise that maybe we will have all modern features of the web available also in that browser.

After the death of Internet Explorer, Safari was on an edge to replace the old browser in internet memes.

But Safari 16.5 tries to end all the jokes. Official release notes are mostly useless, but WebKit blog post gives us a good understanding what’s happening. Here are the most interesting changes:

:user-invalid and :user-valid

The new pseudoclasses at last are the ones that work properly for indicating an input field.

When a field is marked as an email, it won’t mark the field red like :invalid pseudoclass. It will rather wait until you switch to the second input.

Glad Apple implemented it. There’s nothing more annoying than a form showing errors before you even started typing.

Lockdown Mode Blocks Lowlevel Multimedia Access

I’m sure no one wants to hear about any lockdowns. However in this case it’s quite useful.

Hackers sometimes use every opportunity to attact a specific person. Especially if you’re a president or watch naughty videos online.
