Quite frankly I have no idea why really Adobe killed it. All the software we use has security holes and regular updates are a necessity. Flash could be maintained properly too.

Especially since it had massive adoption. It was a very weird move, also considering how aggresively Adobe killed it. It literally forced you yo uninstall it. I've never seen any software vendor do anything near that.

They almost literally forced people to delete something from their computers they might needed or just might wanted to keep for whatever reason just like they considered they are in the possession of people systems.

It was extremely weird and unprecedented. I think we'll learn what was the truth someday.
