🔵 Ionic 6.4 With Better Sheet Modal, Calendar And Knobs
The leading cross-platform framework comes with a lot of new features, especially if it comes to the calendar. Ionic 6.4 allows you to choose multiple days, and gain a fine grip over the sheet modal. Look at the videos, and read further!
At the end of October I have covered what’s new in Ionic 6. It’s only two and a half month later when I came back to see if Ionic has anything new to offer. It occurred that there is. Actually, in that period of time, the Ionic team released tens of updates, with Ionic 6.1, 6.2, 6.3 and 6.4 and 6.4.1 as the most important versions.
So today I will cover the most important changes in these releases. Each release has so many improvements it would be hard to cover everything. In case you’d like to do it, I have linked the release announcements at the end of the article.
If you are not familiar with Ionic, it is a JavaScript based framework for building cross-platform apps. It supports web apps, and also old-school native apps handling iOS and Android systems. It allows you to write apps with Vue, Angular or React as well. Ionic was announced in 2013, when no one thought we’d need to write apps for proprietary platforms anymore.
However, nine years later, we know we have to. And Ionic is a leading framework to provide a user experience aligned with operating system design decisions.
Finer Control Over Sheet Modal
I had some trouble recognizing what is called a sheet modal in the announcement. It occurs, it is the drawer that is expanded from the bottom of the screen. With the Ionic 6.1 release you have a finer control over that drawer. You can decide to what extent it should be opened on the screen. You can also react to the drawer changes.
