Andy Young worked for Microsoft. Lately he wrote on Twitter that on his i9 CPU and with 128 GB of RAM, Windows Menu takes ridiculous amount of time to display search content.

In fact the provided screen recording shows what a Windows 11 user can experience. Unfortunately I was unable to reproduce his findings. I have a worse setup, but I have already disabled everything I could in the start menu, what makes the question why we have to do it at all still viable.

The Start Menu has more problems than that. You can’t remove recommended section, so it takes up a space even when nothing displays there. You can’t even put a shortcut to a file there. It was possible earlier.

So Menu Start got worse and worse during last years. But it’s not only that. The whole transformation of Windows that’s undergoing is weird.

Clap if you like the article so far!

Some settings are in settings, some in control panel. There’s a new context menu with limited features you have to see before seeing the normal file context menu.
