Engry Birdt — The Crazy Cobot

Solar panels, weak AI, mRNA vaccines and Webb telescope raise our eyebrows while we gaze at stars trying to figure out how far we went.

It is especially peculiar considering that forty years ago people were doing everything for the first time ever. You didn't have the Internet. You just had to try and rely only on your brain to accomplish something.

If it comes to me, I like debugging. It reminds me of the times when everyone could discover that a silicone squeezer has a hole for a reason and have a sense of a unique accomplishment.

It was warm July of 2018, and I was in another kind of hole. The black hole of despair.

In March of the same year I was waiting for my next assignment. After a series of cozy projects I was ready for new adventures. This time my client was a company developing Cobots. If you are not familiar with the term I am here for you. Cobots are robots that cooperate with people. You can compare them with Robocop. The only difference is that Robocop protected people from being killed. Cobots try to not kill people by accident.

Cobots do various things. One of these is to move products from a manufacturing line to boxes. It does not sound spectacular, but is really helpful. At least when there are no people around. Otherwise it could get messy.
